King of Glory
By Kendra Osborn

“Who is this King of Glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle. Who is he, this King of glory? The LORD Almighty – he is the King of glory.”
 Psalm 24: 8, 10 (NIV)

I just returned from a week in the Dominican Republic on a mission trip with a team from my church. It was one of the most amazing weeks of my life. There is so much I am still processing and so much keeps coming to my mind. I don’t want to forget one moment from the week or the move of the Holy Spirit I encountered.

The Lord was so gracious to us because He allowed us to see some of the fruit of our labor while we were there. I am continually being awed by how magnificent God is. He continues to amaze me and I love it when He shares His moments with us. I want to always expect God to move but I have learned that it is a privilege to see the fruit of our labor not a right. This past week in the DR God blessed us with so many privileges and we saw so much fruit in the Dominicans and Haitians that we were there to serve and minister to.

I want to share one moment with the Lord that I had and what He allowed me to witness and in that moment what He whispered in my ear.

On Saturday night our team went to minister to a drug and alcohol recovery home for men. They house around 70 men there, ranging from 13 and older. On this night there were 40 men present for the worship service. We were told the men were so honored to have us and they were excited to have a worship service. The service was held outside and I noticed all the men stood in the very back of the covered area. None of them would take a seat until our team was seated in the front.

The service began with praise and worship and it was beautiful. Everything was in Spanish and I don’t speak any Spanish at all but the presence of the Lord was so heavy, I worshiped with all my heart. After the worship time, three of our team members gave their testimonies using an interpreter. All three testimonies were so moving and were great witnesses to the power of the Holy Spirit and the freedom we have in Christ. Even the interpreter got choked up several times while translating.

At the end of the service we had another time of worship and our pastor opened the altar for anyone who wanted to come forward for prayer or to make a decision. I was standing there worshiping and when I looked up there was a flood of men coming forward. I heard our pastor and another pastor praying for the men and all of a sudden I found myself in a sea of tears. I couldn’t contain myself and all I could think of was the scripture that asked “Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty.” The more I repeated it the harder I cried. Then the Lord whispered in my ear “I am the King of all nations and of all tongues.”
How wonderful is He? The King of the Universe cares for ALL His people and He is everywhere, knows everything and understands every tongue. As we stood on a small part of this island, singing to the Lord Almighty underneath the stars of heaven, He was moving on His children in the Dominican.

I saw God move and I didn’t understand 95% of the service. How often I forget who God is and how big He is. I can become so focused on what I know Him to be, a God who understands my language, I fail to realize He is listening to every tongue and every person from every nation at the very moment He is listening to me cry out to Him.

That was an amazing night with the Lord with my Brothers there at the recovery home. There were several men who came up for prayer and about 4 who gave their lives to Christ; one was only 13 years old! After the altar call was done and the worship was over we had a huge celebration feast. The men had cooked all day for us and had roasted a pig in our honor. Having this kind of meal was a huge treat for them and something they do not get often. They were so excited to serve us and again none of them would eat until our team went through the line and sat down for dinner. They were humble and they were grateful. I was honored to be there and blessed by each one of them.

Pray with me: Father God, Creator of the Universe and everything in it we come to You and praise You for who You are. Thank You for being the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. How we praise You for Your greatness and for how big, how deep and how wide Your arms stretch to extend Your love and mercy to us.

Continue to whisper to us and remind us of Your size and Your absolute wisdom of mankind. We love You Father and we pray none of us would forget our Brothers and Sisters who are suffering in other places. We pray we would find ourselves one with them no matter if we understand their language or culture. Thank You for connecting us spirit to spirit. Continue to change our hearts and make them more like Yours. Give us Your eyes, Your heart and Your words and use us as Your vessels to share the Gospel with those that don’t know You.

In the precious and mighty name of Jesus I pray. Amen!
